About Emborg History

History

Our first challenge back in 1947 involved supplying the American forces in Germany immediately after the Second World War.

A dynamic businessman named Erik Emborg was interested in this market, but he needed to build up a network of suppliers capable of adapting immediately to meet American specifications, with a logistics system that was much better than the system used by the Americans themselves. Emborg did business with people – not with products and that was his strength. Additionally to this, you could always rely on him to keep his promises. Emborg travelled all over Europe on an ancient but reliable motorbike, keeping a watchful eye on all aspects of the business. He then laid the foundations of a great success story.

Since the early start, trading with food has expanded from doing business in Europe to covering the entire world.

Many years after the very beginning, back in 1979, the founder, Mr. Erik Emborg sold the company to the Carlsberg Group. This ownership lasted until 1990 where DAT-Schaub Holding A/S acquired the shares.

As per 1 October 2002 Emborg Foods A/S became a 100 per cent owned subsidiary within the Danish Crown Group.

On 3 April 2005, Emborg joined Uhrenholt Holding. This has created a very strong trading house within the primary food categories of dairy, seafood and meat.

The combination of Uhrenholt and Emborg Foods results in a considerable consolidation of the activities in our international trading house. The total sales in the group will reach DKK 4 billions and the two companies' activities will supplement each other perfect.

We feel certain that the competences that can be found in both companies as a joint team will develop the group into an even more considerable player than before and with this strong card in the hand, it will enable us to be able to face and challenge competition in the global market.
