CHEDDAR (MILD, MATURE, VINTAGE)
What is the difference between Emborg’s different cheddar cheeses and their serving suggestions?
Emborg’s Mild Cheddar has a traditional, smooth and creamy flavour. Its smooth and firm texture makes it perfect for cooking and baking as well as for using in toasts, sandwiches and burgers. Our Mature Cheddar has a more distinctive rich and sweet flavour, owe to its 10 months of maturing. Our Vintage Cheddar has matured for 16 months, which gives it a robust and full bodied flavour and makes it drier as well as more crumbly. Both the Mature Cheddar and the Vintage Cheddar can easily be enjoyed on their own, for example served with nuts and crackers, or in a salad for a more flavourful salad experience.
Where is your Emborg Cheddar produced?
Our Emborg Cheddar cheeses are all made in England by using a classic and original British recipe with milk from grass fed cows.
Why is there white substance on the surface of Mature/Vintage? Is it still safe for consumption?
It is calcium lactate which is naturally occurring in aged cheese. It’s perfectly safe to eat. It forms during the natural aging process and it usually means that this cheese is well-aged and flavourful.

How long should I keep it once it has been opened?
