Spaghetti Goreng Mamak
This is not traditionally served during Raya, but it is a great dish as it is quick and easy to prepare for guests. You can have the ingredients prepped and stored in the fridge all day long, so it only takes 5 minutes to put together a freshly cooked bowl of spicy noodles when people come to visit.
Rendang Halal Snack Pack
If you're looking for a late-night snack, and you've got extra rendang, make this halal snack pack. The original HSP – fries topped with doner kebab meat plus cheese and a ton of sauce – was invented in Melbourne. Instead of regular rice or lemang, give this a try with your rendang!
Roti John Cheese
This dish is a classic at Ramadhan Bazaars. Roti John is a burger, but instead of a meat patty, it has minced meat cooked in an omelette and served directly onto hot dog buns, almost like a savoury French toast. A mix of thinly sliced veggies and a squirt of chilli sauce plus mayonnaise and off you go! Emborg Cheddar Topping with European white Cheddar immediately elevates this sandwich with a burst of cheesy flavour. Ice-cold veggies in this dish add a nice temperature and texture contrast.
Sticky Date Pudding with Butterscotch
This recipe belongs to our chef’s mother-in-law, who makes it from leftover dates. However, it is so good that it’s worth going out to get some dates if you don’t have any already. Try this version with butterscotch sauce and a healthy pouring of whipping cream as well. The perfect sweet snack.
